About this Journal
This journal is much like a car accident. You know you should just keep going, but you can't help but linger and stare in some sort of perverted fascination.

The world is a tragedy to those who feel, but a comedy to those who think. ~ Horace Walpole

how i know that i'm old:

i went to the arcade with aaron on sunday. monday morning my shoulders were sore - from using the steering wheel to drive every course in cruisin usa.

also - the arcade now has wizard of wor. i LOVED that game as a kid. i stood at that machine far longer that i probably should have sunday (at least that gives my old ass shoulders a break, right?).

in other video gaming news, here is my currently playing list:
diablo 3 on the PC
tales of graces on the PS3
legacy of ys: books 1 and 2 on the DS

i also need to get back into skyrim (i'm going to be SO rusty. its been a couple months) and really want to get started on xenoblade chronicles on the wii.

realistically, i just need to quit my job so i can catch up on my video game backlog :)

over easter, my family played tie one on. basically, its a word game where you have to get someone to guess a word by giving hints.

so this one round, my aunt arlene was giving me hints. she looks at the word, looks at me.

"a used husband"

....

a used husband? leann actually even stopped the timer for a few moments to allow the laughter to die down (unprecedented tie one on behavior!!!)

i have no idea what to guess. eventually she adds on "a male sheep" to which i unfortunately incorrectly blurted out "a goat?".

apparently my aunt has said a ewe's husband. not used. and the answer was ram. oops.

so i did, indeed take thursday and friday off this week, along with my roommate, so that we could co-op marathon play tales of graces f. i'll probably make a post about the game later (i have one specific part in mind that my roommate and i are STILL laughing about, but i'll have to find a video first. and since i'm uh...way ahead of normal people because of my days off, it may be awhile).

anyway, i was bragging about my 4 day weekend at work to cassie, who told me she was glad i was taking time off and i deserved it (other than the day and half i took when my grandfather passed, i hadn't taken a day off since july). then cassie asked me what i was doing on saturday.

it took me several seconds to figure out why she was asking me specifically about saturday.

this is how old i am now - st patricks day doesn't even stick out to me anymore! i've had no alcohol today (and actually don't really have plans to either, unless zeke has some around the house when we get there, lol). the closest i've come to "celebrating" is that i visited calendar man in arkham city.

thats okay. i'm old, and fine with it! the weather is beautiful and i haven't been to work in almost 3 days! happy st patricks day!!!!

i ordered a new laptop. it arrived yesterday.

when bekah came downstairs this morning and saw me on it, she commented "looks like someone is in love."

i covered its ears (or at least the sides of the screen) and told her that i was pretty sure it was too early in the relationship to tell it that i loved it.

writing this entry from it now, i have to admit. i love it. i don't care if its too soon!!

i got an alienware laptop. and i really want to get the old republic for it.

i'm a big geek. though i'm pretty sure you all already knew that. i mean, i tried to cover my new laptops ears for gods sake!!!!

guess when i'm not playing skyrim, the laptop and i will be bonding :) i don't need to go to work. or sleep. or take care of my responsibilities. right?

open case file #7328TE23J

location: target

file opened: 1/16/12

case notes:
so for the last month or so, i've found that when i go to target, i set off the little "you stole something" alarms at the doors. but not consistently. some days i set it off going both in and out of the store. sometimes just on the way out. sometimes, not at all.

most frequently though, i only set it off on the way in (and ps, this is an official report, so i'm fighting the "that's what she said" joke urge with all i've got).

bekah is pretty sure it must be something in my winter coat, because the one day i went in just a hoodie and my winter hat, it didn't go off. i've also been experimenting with the way i have my wallet in my pocket, wondering if maybe its something i'm carrying in there since its not a consistent thing.

or maybe one of you just put one of those tags somewhere in my coat and are having a good laugh about it.

also interesting - i've set that alarm off at least a dozen times, and only once has their security actually come to check my receipt.

preliminary conclusion: i really ought to start stealing

okay, this is a writers block i finally am interested in :)

i would totally want to have guy cecil, aka gailardia galan gardios, from tales of the abyss as my real life bff. he's smart, he's funny, he's sweet. he is always there for his friends and never gives up on them. and he LOVES technology. he and i could go on and on about the latest gadgets together for hours! he's levelheaded and gives good advice. and besides, a few of his in game titles have to do with being a good friend - what more proof do you need? lol

i haven't been around on here much. they still haven't hired a replacement for the other front office position in my dept. i've been doing both jobs since oct 3rd. i work long hours. and haven't found the time to get on here. boo.

what i've been doing when i'm not at work:
reading
just started the second book of the hunger games trilogy. i'm enjoying it. i also started going to the library this summer, and have been going ever since. i now am always reading a book. maybe not as fast as most people would, but i generally always read a chapter of whatever i'm reading before bed. its nice.

basketball!!!
the lockout has ended! and there is a free preview of nba league pass until jan 8th. so i've been watching every orlando magic game, and catching as many others as i can. i've got the pistons/pacers game on right now. dang, the pistons arena is eeeeeeemptyyyyyyyyyy.

video games
here is where most of my free time goes :) i'm only 2 achievements away from having every achievement in tales of vesperia. i'm working hard to finish that as it will be the first game i've ever gotten every achievement on, and i'm surprisingly pleased about it. i feel accomplished, ha. i also have SO MANY games i own and have yet to start - dragon age: origins, tales of symphonia: dawn of the new world, demon souls, final fantasy XIII, batman arkham city, elder scrolls V skyrim, dungeon siege 3, grand theft auto IV...and the list goes on.

well, just wanted to wish you all a happy new year! here's hoping i'm back around here more soon! if i made resolutions, made i'd make one on this. but i don't, so i won't :)

around 10 this morning, i headed into the back workroom to talk to my student worker about something. as i was standing there, talking to her, i put my thumbs in my back pockets, and let my hands kind of dangle. as soon as i did, i knew something was wrong.

i actually interrupted myself mid-sentence. i have a giant hole in the ass of my pants!!!

exacerbated by the fact that i know i was wearing these same pants last week. how long have i been walking around with a hole in my butt?!?!!

so now, 4 hours later, i'm still at work. knowing that there is a giant hole right below my pocket on my left butt cheek. professionalism at its finest. i'm doing my best to stay seated at all times.

i think this pretty much sums up my life recently rather nicely :P

when a student has a hold on their account, it prevents them from doing certain things (registering for classes, getting transcripts, etc). all holds get coded into the system with certain codes.

and while i do work here, and know full well what this actually means, i can't help but laugh about it every time i see it.

Photobucket

i'm sure the students would agree with the assessment.
